What To Expect at Family First Chiropractic
If you’re a new patient, we’d like you to know exactly what to expect when you come in for the first visit with our chiropractic team.
We welcome you to fill out your paperwork by downloading it online, but if you prefer to complete it in the office, please arrive about 15 minutes early for your appointment.
One of our friendly assistants will first perform some preliminary testing before you meet with the doctor.
This is where you’ll meet personally with one of our doctors so that he can review your health history and discuss your concerns and goals. We will also complete non-invasive exam procedures to know exactly what is causing your problem.
At this point, we will be able to ascertain whether or not we’ll be able to help you…and if we determine that we can’t, we’ll refer you to someone who can!
Very specific X-rays will be taken to help the doctor determine the actual source of your problem.
Your Second Visit
When you return for your second visit we will review the results of your testing and discuss your X-ray findings with you. We’ll also educate you about your condition and how chiropractic can help you.
If you feel at this time that you’re a good “fit” with our office, we’ll create an individualized treatment plan that will correct your problem and get you out of pain as quickly as possible.
Your First Adjustment
Once you fully understand the extent of your problem, you’ll receive your first adjustment.
It’s customary in our office to have you lie down to relax and rest for about ten minutes after your treatment, followed by a re-check to insure that your treatment was successful.
Will My Adjustment Be Painful?
No! None of the techniques we use involve neck twisting or “popping” of the spine.
Sometimes when the doctor is just checking your neck or back, it will feel like he’s pressing on a bruise…this is because there’s swelling around the joint. This temporary discomfort is minimal, however.
The vast majority of our Reno patients fully enjoy their adjustments because they’re gentle, low-force, quick and effective!
Do I Have To Keep Going For My Entire Life?
It’s true that many patients choose to continue their chiropractic care on some type of periodic basis, simply because they enjoy feeling good. Others choose to see us only from time to time for an episode of pain or a new injury. Some prioritize wellness or preventative care.
The choice is always yours!
